Recently, the Australian government has announced some major changes in student visa rules. A notable one is a change in the English language proficiency test requirements. The government has raised the minimum score requirements.

  • Student visa: The score has been increased from 5.5 to 6.0
  • Temporary graduate visa: The score has been increased from 6.0 to 6.5

There is also a 17% increase in the financial requirements for student visa applicants. The government has introduced the Genuine Student Test instead of the Genuine Temporary Entrant (GTE) requirement. The UK accepts international students with study gaps. The acceptable study gaps may vary depending on the universities. Some Universities accept a maximum 5-year study gap, while some take only 1 to 2 years.
